PILLOW CASE DRESS SHARK TANK : WHAT HAPPENED TO COZY BUG AFTER SHARK TANK

pillowcase dress shark tank

It was Aly Lessor who came up with the idea for the Cozy Bug pillowcase outfits that grow with your child. When you see how Lessor came up with this innovative approach to allow your clothes to grow with you, one-size-fits-all takes on a whole new meaning. Expandable dresses and jackets are available at Cozy Bug, which has sold thousands of bows to accompany its new designs.

Shark Tank has brought in $300,000 in just 30 days for the company’s online sales. On top of an already extensive product line, Lessor has added dancing pillowcase dresses to the mix. This specialised industry is dominated by Mark Cuban, who feels she should stay focused on what is currently selling. In order to conquer the world, Lessor plans to use the Cozy Bug Brand in as many marketplaces as possible. Mark Cuban, a very reticent Shark (at least at first), flies out the door rather quickly after hearing her company’s overarching ambitions.

Aly not only needs an investment in the Cozy Bug Business but more importantly she needs help making the contacts with the large retail outlets to carry her pillowcase dresses. Despite her best efforts, she appears to be unable to get entry into the company. In fact, Kevin O’Leary is a fan of the Cozy Bug concept and offers Lessor a deal. After the $50k, he wants $2.00 every dress sold until he gets his money back; she will get no stake in the company. After that, O’Leary wants $1 each dress. then goes on to tell Aly that she is not allowed to manufacture anything other than dresses and hair bows for him. It’s possible to write an entire novel based on the expression on Aly’s face. She has already clearly indicated what her ambitions were and money was the least of her concerns. This time around, Kevin made an offer to see how far she would go in negotiations.

Cozy Bug Pillowcase after the Shark Tank Update

Aly Lessor and Daymond John were both featured on the CNN Show “Making It In America” last month  which confirms that the deal on Shark Tank was indeed completed. Unfortunately Aly has not done much updating on any of the social networks so we may have to wait a little longer to see what direction both Lessor and John will be taking on growing this into a global brand. I found it interesting that she does not follow her new mentor on Twitter but does follow Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber as some of the few people she chose to follow. I’m not sure what that’s all about but it is always interesting to see who is following who especially when the account is tied to a business. I can’t be the only one out there that checks those sorts of things. I honestly thought the deal did not get completed just because of this fact and no big mentions after the Show thus far. It’s something to think about if you have your business on social media sites these days. Lack of good information (or outdated) could have the exact opposite effect on what you are trying to perceive.

I look forward to doing another update on the Cozy Bug Brand when Daymond and Aly start rolling this Brand out across the country.

What Happened to pillowcase at Shark Tank Pitch

An LA woman named Aly Lessor appeared on Shark Tank in 2012 with her line of cute young girl outfits created from pillow cases and ribbons, which she called “Cozy Bug.”. Daymond John and Lori Greiner get embroiled in a Shark Tank brawl after hearing her proposal. Despite Lori’s pledge to make Lessor a millionaire, Lessor opted to work with John instead of Aly (for the same deal). It’s unusual for a retail giant to relinquish its social media marketing clout. For nearly two months now, Cozy Bug hasn’t made a single post to Facebook (in May, a Memorial Day sale). Prior to that, there was a post that was published in January. Cozy Bug hasn’t tweeted since October 2013, when he last uploaded something to his account. The last time they uploaded anything on Instagram was in 2016, so it’s been more than two years. The CoZibug brand of swaddling blankets and baby outfits made in Seattle has added to the mystique surrounding the Cozy Bug saga.
In the pitch, the company was valued at $200,000; when Daymond invested, the company was valued at $166,667. There is no way to know how much the company was valued before it shut down in October 2015.
