An Ooakshell headband is an excellent technique to manage hair fall and heat in addition to being a fashionable accessory. Mika Bertholdo developed a technique to make a simple product more stylish and even adaptable. As a result, she showcased her invention Ooakshell, a line of size-inclusive hairbands with distinctive hand-dyed patterns, in season 13 episode 22 of ‘Shark Tank.’ While the product is intriguing, how about we learn more about the company? Let us get this party started!

Who is the founder?

Mika Bartholdo is the co-founder of Ooakshell. Mika Bertholdo is the creative force behind this. She explained what prompted her to design new hair accessories in an interview with Nena & Co.

Regular headbands were no longer working for me, so I started using these in late 2018. I was experiencing postpartum hair loss, and the headband was not correctly fitting.

They built one that was broad and entirely adjustable, and I began coloring them to match my bright Nena purse.

What is the Ooakshell headband?

Ooakshell headband is a multi-functional, one-size-fits-all headband that may be worn narrow or broad. Mika started Ooakshell in 2018, and the company tested its goods on Etsy before launching its own website. Because each oak shell is hand-painted, it is one-of-a-kind.

Ooakshell: Who Are They and What Do They Do?

Mika Bertholdo graduated from the University of California San Diego with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. After giving birth to her second child in 2018, she had significant postpartum hair loss. Mika opted to use hairbands to deal with the problem, but owing to her big forehead, she had difficulty finding a suitable size. Furthermore, the alternatives provided made her brow appear larger, making her feel self-conscious.

Mika settled on a wraparound headband with adjustable rings that double as a belt buckle to hold the headband in place while also adding a fashionable touch. The rings distinguish oak shell headbands from other types of headbands. She also made sure the modal/spandex blend fabric and paints were of the highest quality. Mika tie-dyed each headband herself and began selling them on Etsy at the end of 2018 after testing them out on friends and family and receiving fantastic responses.

Where Is Ooakshell Now?

Mika decided to go further and start her own website in 2020 after receiving a positive reaction to her Etsy wares. Not only that, but in August 2021, she collaborated on a bag line with Nena and Co., a company that makes one-of-a-kind handbags and accessories while also giving artisans a sustainable livelihood. Mika Ooakshell didn’t have a patent when she went on “Shark Tank,” but she wanted to get one as well as the Sharks’ backing.

An Ooakshell headband is now available in two sizes: low tide and high tide, which is two inches wider. Mika dyes each one herself, so there are many different colors and patterns to select from. A tie-dye headband will set you back $32, while a basic black headband will set you back $25. The rings are also available in a variety of hues, including rose gold, matte black, rainbow, gunmetal, copper, antique gold, and bronze, for $3 each pair.

We are confident that Ooakshell will soon reach new heights of success, thanks to its relatable and humble beginnings and Mika’s excellent presentation on ‘Shark Tank.’

Ooakshell is a company that makes bright headbands that may be worn by anyone. Her items are generally hand-dyed and adjustable. The official summary for Shark Tank Episode 22 covers the company’s and founder’s details.
