Joe vs Carole, directed by Justin Tipping and Natalie Bailey, was released on March 3, 2022. Wondery and Universal Content Productions are in charge of the production. This crime drama is based on the second season of Wondery’s true-crime podcast ‘Over My Dead Body.’ Joe vs Carole is a dramatized, fictionalized depiction of the feud between Joe Exotic, a zoo owner who staged animal performances, and Carole Baskin, a large cat rescuer. The story of these two became well-known when the docuseries Tiger King debuted on Netflix in 2020 and quickly became a hit.
Joe Vs Carole Season 2 Cast
The cast for Season 1 was
- John Cameron Mitchell as Joe Exotic
- Kate McKinnon as Carole Baskin
- Sam Keeley as John Finlay
- Kyle MacLachlan as Howard Baskin, Carole’s husband
If the show is renewed for a second season, the cast will remain the same, with the exception of new characters, of course.
Joe vs Carole Season 2 Story
If the series is renewed, the plot could revolve around Carole pursuing other private zoos that are unsuitable for big cats and people who perform animal shows. Her fervor for rescuing animals is a key component of the first season, and it’s possible that they’ll drive it into a second season. Although it would lack the depth of the first season, this would be the best option.
Joe vs Carole Season 1 Recap
Carole Baskin, a woman who runs a big cat rescue with her husband, answers the door and discovers two agents from the US Fish and Wildlife division. They inform her that a hitman has been hired to assassinate her. Carole appears to have a sense of who it could be.
The scene switches to a flashback seven years earlier, while Carole and her husband are at a gun store looking for something to defend themselves with.
Carole as a child is shown cycling through her sanctuary. But once she’s in her office, she’s as sharp as a tack, going after any location that’s been reported to be unfit to care for big animals. Carole is interested in learning more about one of the companies on the list, which appears to be new.
The next scene takes place at a state fair, where Joe Exotic is setting up his animal display. This blond mullet performer finds himself in a pickle when the audience expected him to bring out a tiger, but the animal turns out to be quite sick. Joe, unwilling to put the show on wait, substitutes a painted sheep. Obviously, this was not the finest resemblance substitution and left the audience perplexed. Joe, on the other hand, remains as confident as ever, even charging the audience to pose with tiger cubs. During this time, he notices a Big Cat Rescue volunteer, Carol Baskin, strolling around. This would be their first meeting.
There’s also a later scene at Joe’s roadside zoo where he introduces a new employee, John Finlay, to the site. He even demonstrates to him the benefits of running a zoo by walking right into a tiger’s cage and touching it.
Meanwhile, Carole discovers that all of the companies on her list are actually owned by Joe Exotic and sets out to bring him down. Her motivation is only heightened when Joe creates a bogus Huge Cat Rescue website in order to deceive people into believing they will arrange battles amongst the big cats.
Carole escalates her campaign against Joe by mass emailing every fair and venue that might host an animal show, urging them not to put up with it. She is not alone in her efforts to put an end to the mistreatment of large cats, as she joins forces with other animal rights activists.
Joe Exotic is not happy about this.
To summarise, Joe is arrested for Endangered Species Act violations as well as hiring a hitman. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison. Carole then takes over the Greater Wynnewood Exotic Animal Park and continues to lobby the government to create legislation to ensure the protection of large cats.
