When a gorgeous lady in danger knocks, you answer the door. Tahir Wazir, a well-known author, surely believes so. smarmy and brimming with attitude Meetu Mathur’s small-town sensibility, notably her God-like devotion to him, greatly feeds his ego. Without further ado, the belle arrives at his home and, eventually, his bedroom.
Bestseller Season 1 Recap
One of the most amusing aspects of mysteries is that the initial few minutes or episodes, in the case of web series, give a decent indicator of what the future will look like cinematically. And, based on the first four episodes of ‘Bestseller,’ things don’t appear to be going well for director Mukul Abhyankar and his co-stars. To begin, any good thriller keeps the element of suspense under wraps for as long as is aesthetically possible without damaging the narrative flow.
The plot revolves around novelist Tahir Wazir (Arjan), who is suffering from writer’s block, and how a chance meeting with a reader, Meetu Mathur (Shruti), totally transforms his destiny. While the plot is built around Meetu’s efforts to survive in Mumbai’s crowded city, her paths cross with her hero bestseller writer, played by Arjun Bajwa. Tahir, desperate to match his publisher’s expectations, decides to adopt one of his followers’ stories for his own work. This comes after Tahir and Meetu were attacked on social media by a troll, prompting supercop Mithun Chakraborty to investigate. Assaults become increasingly common, people die, and viewers start to notice linkages between occurrences. The problem is that you figure out what’s going on before half the show is finished. By then, the mystery had dissipated.
Bestseller Season 1 Review
Bestseller’s problem was not its story, which is well-written and has a decent heart. Everything else, from the photography and performances to the myriad plot faults, is a failure. In a thrilling thriller, the audience is kept guessing. The big plot surprise in the best-selling novel is unveiled with four episodes left. The cause behind the enigma is also disclosed in the following episode. Then it’s simply a matter of deferring the inevitable. The plot of the show is analogous to a car stuck on the highway, going nowhere and irritating the passengers.
One thing that ‘Bestseller’ has going for it is the performances. Shruti Haasan removes her makeup for Meetu Mathur, and her performance improves after a few awkward minutes in front of the camera. As a result, after the first two episodes, Bajwa abandons the theatrical components of his on-screen persona and transforms into Tahir Wazir: the guy, the ego lunatic.
Mithoon Chakraborty plays a top cop who, rather than the pitiful daddy jokes-mouthing ACP Pramanik, should have been given a larger, more significant role to play. Satyajeet Dubey’s performance as Parth is almost the only other misfit in this bleak psychological thriller. The young actor’s plain face and soft eyes contrast with the numerous personality traits he attempts to communicate in his play. ‘Bestseller’ is a morality lecture designed to instill in you the notion that there is no such thing as ‘perfect’ truth in any narrative.
