Amy Coney Barrett, the daughter of Linda and Michael Coney, was born in 1972 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Amy Coney Barrett is the oldest of seven children, with five sisters and one brother.
Amy Coney Barrett’s father was an attorney for Shell Oil Company, while her mother was a high school French teacher and homemaker.

Amy served as a judicial clerk for multiple judges following her graduation from law school. She worked for US Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia from 1998 to 1999.
She subsequently entered private practice with the Washington, D.C. firm Miller, Cassidy, Larroca & Lewin.
In 2002, she opted to return to Notre Dame to teach law at the university’s school of law. She got the “Distinguished Professor of the Year” honor three times during her return to Notre Dame.
Amy Barrett was named to the Advisory Committee on Federal Rules of Appellate Procedure by Chief Justice John Roberts in 2010.
Amy was nominated to serve as a United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit circuit judge on May 8, 2017.
Amy has stated some anti-abortion beliefs, which is why conservative groups support her. She faces vociferous opposition from left-leaning groups, such as those representing abortion rights organizations and the LGBT community.
The Senate Judiciary Committee approved her nomination by a vote of 11-9, and the full Senate confirmed her nomination by a vote of 54-43. She was the first female to represent Indiana on the Seventh Circuit.
